Theory of anisotropic plasmons

چکیده
We develop the complete theory for collective plasmon modes of an interacting electron system in presence explicit mass (or velocity) anisotropy corresponding noninteracting situation, with effective Fermi velocity being different along axes. Such is common solid state materials (e.g., silicon or germanium), where surface often not spherical. find that dispersion itself develops significant such systems, and commonly used isotropic approximation using a density states optical does work anisotropic system. predict qualitatively new phenomenon systems no analog, mode one direction decays into electron-hole pairs through Landau damping while remains undamped stable direction.

Theory of spoof plasmons in real metals
In this Letter we develop a theory of spoof plasmons propagating on real metals perforated with planar periodic grooves. Deviation from the spoof plasmons on perfect conductor due to finite skin depth has been analytically described. This allowed us to investigate important propagation characteristics of spoof plasmons such as quality factor and propagation length as the function of the geometr...
متن کاملNoether Symmetry in f(T) Theory at the anisotropic universe
As it is well known, symmetry plays a crucial role in the theoretical physics. On other hand, the Noether symmetry is a useful procedure to select models motivated at a fundamental level, and to discover the exact solution to the given lagrangian. In this work, Noether symmetry in f(T) theory on a spatially homogeneous and anisotropic Bianchi type I universe is considered. We discuss the Lagran...
متن کاملTheory of surface plasmons and surface-plasmon polaritons
Collective electronic excitations at metal surfaces are well known to play a key role in a wide spectrum of science, ranging from physics and materials science to biology. Here we focus on a theoretical description of the many-body dynamical electronic response of solids, which underlines the existence of various collective electronic excitations at metal surfaces, such as the conventional surf...
متن کاملDynamic Behavior of Anisotropic Protein Microtubules Immersed in Cytosol Via Cooper–Naghdi Thick Shell Theory
In the present research, vibrational behavior of anisotropic protein microtubules (MTs) immersed in cytosol via Cooper–Naghdi shell model is investigated. MTs are hollow cylindrical structures in the eukaryotic cytoskeleton which surrounded by filament network. The temperature effect on vibration frequency is also taken into account by assuming temperature-dependent material properties for MTs....
متن کاملPumping electrons in graphene to the M point in the Brillouin zone: Emergence of anisotropic plasmons
We consider the existence of plasmons in a nonequilibrium situation where electrons from the valence band of graphene are pumped to states in the Brillouin zone around the M point by a high intensity UV electromagnetic field. The resulting out-of-equilibrium electron gas is later probed by a weak electromagnetic field of different frequency. We show that the optical properties of the system and...
